Mussels: host chemoautotrophic symbiotic bacteria and provide these organisms with sulfur and nitrate in exchange for organic carbon. Mussels also retain the ability to actively filter feed, similar to their counterparts at less extreme environments. M
Serpulid Worms: are suspension-feeders, and are also considered to be hydrothermal vent primary consumers.
Crabs and Fish: are hydrothermal vent carnivores and scavangers.
