Nickelodeon Universe is now the amusement park in the center of the mall, replacing Camp Snoopy. It is the largest indoor theme park in the U.S.

Nothing really to do with this trip, but when I returned to Corvallis, I saw one of those wild Zap electric cars!

Note that the Nike swoosh changes color every few minutes!

Footage from past Olympic Trials here was very poignant. If my dream to make it to the Trials in the long jump in 1980 had come true, I would have been here too!

Members of 1980 team were introduced and marched around the track. I believe hurdler Stephanie Hightower is in this group. Note that these great athletes were not allowed to actually go to the Olympics due to Jimmy Carter's horrendous and heartless (and futile) boycott of the 1980 games.
|

This group includes Steve Scott and Mary Decker Slaney in the front!!! Steve Scott has thus far run more sub-4:00 miles than any other runner in history. Mary Decker Slaney held world records ranging from the mile to the 10,000 meters.

Eugene Festival 08 surrounded Hayward Field. Those without tickets could watch on this other jumbotron.

A qualifying heat of the men's 100 m. Tyson Gay is not in this picture, but we saw him later set a new American, Olympic Trials, and Hayward Field record in 9.77 seconds! He would later go on to win the final in an astonishing wind-aided 9.68!
