Membership - by C. Merry
- University of Pennsylvania and USGS unanimously
approved for membership.
- Motion that UCGIS adopt the university affiliate
membership category with initiation and annual dues, and
application procedures similar to regular academic
members, except without voting rights, moved by Craig,
seconded by Egenhofer, carried.
- Agreed that university affiliate fees may be paid by
other organizations.

- Research Projects - by M. Egenhofer
- Motion to accept all committee reports, moved by K.
Clark, seconded by D. Johnston, carried.
8. Election of officers
Incoming president - William Huxhold
Vice President/President elect - Harlan Onsrud,
acclaimed
Board - Robert McMaster (3 years), Harvey Miller (3
years), Steve Hirtle - decided by coin toss (1
year)
Will Craig and David Mark accepted as co-chairs for the Policy
and Legislation Committee and Carolyn Merry was reappointed to
the Membership Committee.
9. Recognition of outgoing officers
Nina Lam, Karen Kemp and Don Myers were
recognized for their contributions to the Board
John Radke was thanked for his service as secretary
through the summer assembly 1999
Outgoing Past President David Mark was thanked for his
contribution
Outgoing Policy and Legislation Chair Harlan Onsrud
was recognized
10. Goals and format, Summer Assembly

11. Other business
Open request for participation in NSGIC
meeting, March 24-26, 2000, St. Louis to uphold our formal
MOU with that organization
Future meetings
- 2001 to be held in Buffalo
- hold open request for bids for 2002 and 2003
- ACTION - Board to consider how the rate of
participation at the Washington meeting can be improved.
Suggestion that UCGIS send letters to university
administrations requesting support for participation at
this meeting in advance of this meeting.
- Note of respect on the passing of Peter Gould and
honor of his contribution to Geography and Spatial
Analysis. Suggestion of creation of an honor roll,
commemorative book.
- Thanks to Greg Elmes for his contribution as
President.
- Welcome to William Huxhold as new President.
