And on to the "creme de la creme," the "piece de resistance," the Death Star! Just sorting the 3400+ pieces took me 2 days.

The Death Star under Christmastime construction.

My thumb in the foreground for scale.

Interior chambers

One side of the model represents the Death Star under construction on purpose, as it was portrayed in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.

The completed Death Star, after 3 full days of hardcore building! The instruction book was 100 pages long!

The completed model stands 25 inches in height and is 19 inches wide! Stars Wars DVD shown for scale

Awesome Snoopy pirate statue ("the coolest seadog ever, Capt. Joe Sparrow"), acquired from Knotts Berry Farm, Snoopy Headquarters

Lifesize pirate statue at the entrance to Glowing Greens Miniature Golf in downtown Portland. Recommended by Jed Roberts.

Model that I built in January of the freedom schooner Amistad. In 1839, slaves aboard the Amistad revolted to secure their freedom while being transported from one Cuban port to another. This kit was purchased from www.sailclassics.com of Lakebay, WA. See excellent historic information on the real ship at this link and this link.

These kits require the builder to install all sails, masts, and rigging. It was a labor of love to be sure! Lydia seems to like the final product.

Fantastic model ship in the lobby of the Admiral Hotel, Copenhagen, Denmark, July, 2008.

There are model ships throughout the lobby of the Admiral.

The Danish ship upon which this model was based set out from Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1928 and was never seen again!

I'm throwing in these great ship models seen on my visit to Corpus Christi, Texas in 2003! This model is in the office of Wes Tunnel, associate director of the Harte Research Institute (HRI) for Gulf of Mexico Studies, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

This great model was seen in the hotel that I stayed in while visiting HRI in 2003.

Another one seen in Corpus Christi, TX in 2003.

and another, of the USS Constitution ....
