Oregon State is also one of six founding members of the University
Consortium for Geographic Information Science (UCGIS),
nationally recognized as the premier academic organization guiding GIS
research and curriculum development in the United States. Each UCGIS member
institution has named two official delegates, who serve on the UCGIS Council,
vote at national UCGIS meetings, and may hold UCGIS offices. Each institution
may also name up to several Alternates, who will be informed of UCGIS
business issues and who may represent the institution if one or both of
the official delegates are unable to attend a meeting.
