The area surrounding Santa Rosa Lake in Texas has experienced drought conditions for 84 percent of the past
five years. Of that, 74 percent was of "exceptional" intensity.
Parts of the Pinaleño Mountains in Arizona have sustained drought continuously for the past five years.
