The UCGIS web site is currently running on a server at Oregon State University's Davey Jones' Locker in Corvallis, OR.

The original web design was created by John Radke at UC Berkeley. He also designed the original UCGIS brochure and developed the UCGIS web site to reflect that design. Will Craig (University of Minnesota) assisted in working out the organization of material. The design was updated in the Spring of 1999 by graduate student Deana Pennington at Oregon State University. On-site work of late has been strictly an OSU affair (Dawn Wright at Oregon State, with the help of John Snowden at Ohio State).

Many people contributed to establishing the original UCGIS website, which GIS World rated as the site of the month in 1997. These included many people at SUNY Buffalo (Jim Gerland, Richard Lesniak, Martin Camacho, David Howes and David Mark), people at West Virginia University (Greg Elmes and Joe Sewash), and Randolph Franklin at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The html versions of the Boulder and Nashville press releases, and the Bylaws with table of contents, were provided by Karen Kemp while she was at UC Santa Barbara.

Contents are distributed with links to many contributors; e.g., the first series of Education and Research White Papers are posted at UC Santa Barbara, many of the meeting minutes at West Virginia, etc. Comments and suggestions are welcome. Comments on the UCGIS pages should be emailed to webmaster@ucgis.org
